When in the Isle of Skye, it's really worth it to experience the great beauty the outdoors have to offer. The Fairy Pools were high on our list, and we didn't let the inclement weather keep us from hiking along the raging waterfalls and river that make up the majestical pools. At first, I didn't want to make the trek in the rain and mist, but I'm sure glad my travel companions dragged (nearly literally) me across the raging rivers and muddy trail to see these for myself.
Journal Entry:
After grabbing dinner we went out to the Fairy Pools. The drive was close to 45 minutes away from our Breakish house. We drove to the top of the mountain on winding roads with thick pea soup fog surrounding us.
The hike to the Fairy Pools was tedious due to the fog, rain, and heavy mist. This was enhanced by the requirement to cross a raging creek to get to the pools. We took off our shoes and socks before stepping into the river. The water was freezing! From here we hiked up a series of trails along the river. The waterfalls were truly beautiful, surrounded by mist, green, and purple heather.
After a long, wet drive to back to Breakish, I enjoyed a hot bath with a much-needed glass of wine.
